Gray Matters Interviews

on CKUT 90.3 FM in Montreal for the
Progressive Futures Project/Show

Progressive Futures is a special series produced by Grey Matters, CKUT's long standing political affairs show, broadcasting recorded interviews, conferences, talks and lectures about politics from a radical perspective on the airwaves of CKUT 90.3 FM in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. In November 1998, a series was started entitled "Progressive Futures: Visions for the Future from the American Left". The aim: to present the views and visions for the future of some of Amercia's most eminent radical thinkers, at this time when progressive ideas seem increasingly left-behind and marginalized in the era of the "Free Market". After the Cold War "victory", what are the foundations and possibilities for progressive change?

The series is a collaboration between CKUT-FM's "Grey Matters" and CISM-FM's "Radio Ouverture". Radio Ouverture also publishes a bi-monthly paper called L'Ouverture. Their web page is located at: http://victorian.fortunecity.com/palace/474/

So far, guests of Progressive Futures have included Michael Albert, Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn and Michael Parenti. The series is produced and hosted by Fortner Anderson and Jean-François Hamilton. The series is also particular in that its' goal is to translate these interviews into french for publication and distribution, making these views available to a new audience. Future guests include Barbara Ehrenreich, Ward Churchill, and Winona Laduke.
